SF Marathon

Sir Arrogant Numskull officially and publicly states that he will be running the San Francisco Marathon on July 26, 2009. Why the announcement?

I've never run one before, and I'm hoping that putting it "out there" will help keep me on track.

I will be in SF for the whole week of the race, July 21 to 28, so I am hoping to hook up with any left coasters during that time. The tickets are bought.

I plan to record some of the trials and tribulations of my training should they prove to be of any general interest.

  1. Peter if they have you doing some of those San Fran hills you just might 'leave your heart in San Fransisco.' This should be good,...gotta wish you luck on this one amigo...we will all check you out on this one.

  2. That's fantastic, Peter. Where does it begin and end? Have you run a full race before?

  3. Lord Numskull- From what I've gathered about you over the months is that you Sir... are no spring chicken! I advise you to stop this silliness, start taking your medication again, get a fishing pole and sit quietly on the banks of an NC river and ponder your better days. The San Fran marathon will not be any typical North Carolina downhill stroll. The streets of SF will have you begging for a for Dirty Harry to "make his day."

  5. Peter,

I am very happy for you. You can do it! Which one will you do: full marathon, half marathon or the 5K?

  6. Peter,

Don’t think about the hills; just enjoy the day. It will be a great experience for your family specially the girls.

  7. You can do this.... it's a great marathon, wonderful one for the first. Views are fantastic, weather usually cool, great crowd. I and some also teachers make this an annual trek to the city for a great time. Stay at the Hyatt, it's worth the few extra $$$ to be that close. If your training is lagging the half-marathon is an equally admirable accomplishment! Have a great time... it's all about your personal best, and the people of course.
